In Memory of Edward Grant Sr. 1/31/29 - 3/17/05

Edward Nathaniel Grant Sr. -MACON - Edward Nathaniel Grant Sr., born January 31, 1929, to the late Emma Woolfolk and Willie A. Grant, departed this life Thursday, March 17, 2005. Services will be held 2P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Unionville Baptist Church, 3837 Houston Avenue, Macon. Rev. Harold Crafter officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. -He is remembered as an influential Scout Master of Troop 195, co-founder of The New Era Golf Association, former treasurer of The Black Eagles Motorcycle Club. He was a Mason and a former member of the 100 Black Men Association. He is also an avid supporter and member of the Gray Chapel A.M.E. Church. -Mr. Grant grew up in the Fort Hill neighborhood of Macon. After studying at Georgia Baptist College and serving honorably in the U.S. Army he returned to Macon. Working as a waiter/bartender at the Idle Hour Country Club and various other businesses throughout the area he established himself as an extremely community-minded businessman and supporter of positive programs and ventures. -After opening and successfully managing Macon's James Brown Golden Platter Restaurants, Mr. Grant garnered his knowledge, assets, and love from family and founded Grant's Lounge (1971). In addition to Grant's Lounge, Mr. Grant's entrepreneurial expertise was instrumental in the success of G's Fast Food, Cheryl's Restaurant, Fast Cash, and more recently the Riverview Hotel and Event Center. -Remembering and celebrating his full life are Mrs. Rosa Lee Brown Grant; a son, Edward N. Grant, Jr.; two daughters, Cheryl (Woodrow) Louder and LCDR Gaynell Grant, USN; a stepmother, Mary E. Grant; seven brothers, Albert L. Grant Sr., William A. Grant, Rev. John W. Grant, Henry L. Blue, Arnold Grant, Kelvin Grant, Lemuel A. Grant; two sisters, Queen G. Slyke, Marion Bolton; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. -The family may be contacted at 1087 Boone Street, Macon. -Bentley and Sons are in charge of arrangements.
