Grant's Lounge . . . Macon's nationally famous night spot!

Almost as often as the sun comes up someone comes into Grant's Lounge to see for themselves what people in distant parts of America are talking about. Edward Grant, proprietor, likes to talk about the many visits he receives from folks who stop by his establishment as they travel to destinations scattered in all parts of the globe. It seems that the reputation of Grant's Lounge, located on Poplar Street (The Avenue of Flags) has been spread by the many travelers and musicians who frequent this unusual fun spot. Because of "Grant's" association with Phil Walden, head of Capricorn Records, and famous musicians the word has gotten out that it is the "in" place in Macon, fast becoming one of the music capitals of the world. Grant's Lounge has been written up in "Rolling Stone" and "Modern Screen" magazines, the Aspen, Colorado, newspaper, as well as many others.

Grant's Lounge got its start in February of 1971 when Edward Grant mortgaged his home and raised money to open his own lounge after operating similar businesses for almost everyone in Macon. He wanted to open a Club where everyone would be welcome and would enjoy themselves. It must have top name entertainment. Soon Grant formed an association with officials of Capricorn Records and Talent under which he would provide promising young musicians a place to receive exposure as they made their climb to stardom. A few of the now famous musicians who have appeared at Grant's Lounge in the past are The Allman Brothers Band, Wet Willie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels, Eric Quincy Tate (Donnie McCormick with Liz in picture), The Marshall Tucker Band, and White Witch.

Then, due to popular demand, G's Fast Foods was openend to provide restaurant facilities to patrons.

Recently, "Macon's Longest Happy Hour" was begun at Grant's . . . from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day. Mr Grant counts among his assets Ms. Liz Graham who has served in practically all capacities since she joined the staff in 1971.
